Heat Waves and Birthdays
So, this weekend was only marred by this ridiculous heat wave that is supposedly peaking today (oh please oh please go away!!). I also injured my calf on Friday night (just before class, so I limped through my exercise. But that didn’t stop me and my partner from kicking ass!). So I spent the weekend resting and generally pretending that I like forced immobility. I also watched some movies. And drug myself out of the house for two occasions… On Saturday (before the heat really took hold) I went to an hour seminar/talk on marketing yourself as an actor. And am I ever glad I went! But that’s gonna be a separate post (look for it shortly after I post this one…).
On Sunday, after the world had cooled off to some semblance of a reasonable temperature I made E drive me to Larchmont so that I could pick up a small celebratory treat in the form of a cupcake! It was my birthday after all. Which was actually quite a lovely day despite the mitigating factors. Talked to my family on the phone. Got lots of love from friends and family on facebook (love you guys!!!) and just enjoyed relaxing. I’m saving more active celebrations for when I can walk again and the world outside my apartment is not doing it’s best impression of a furnace.
I took the opportunity to watch a couple of movies (what else was I really going to do?). Love Story – a classic I had never watched before. And The Matrix. Yeah, I like odd couplings
I also watched Sweeny Todd for the first time on Saturday. So I’ve had a fun filmic weekend. And I enjoyed all three of the movies I picked for it, so yay me! It was really interesting watching The Matrix again, especially considering how long it had been since I’d seen it. I remember the impact it had eleven years ago. And I can still see it today. Although those Nokia phones look huge now. And oh dear god…. is that a CRT!??!! It’s amazing how the world changes.
Anyway, my birthday was lovely and I’m considering mainlining thai iced teas as clearly it’s the only reasonable way to deal with the fact that the predicted high for today is upwards of 103 and we’re well on our way.

i am sad faced as there is no mention of my birthday present to you. i get no love here, i tell you. no love!
